  • China has welcomed North Korea's decision to halt nuclear tests and intercontinental missile launches. Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said in a statement that China believes the decision to stop nuclear tests and focus on developing the economy and improving people's living standards will help further ease the situation on the Korean peninsula and help to promote the process of denuclearisation and attempts to find a political settlement.



  • In the United States, Democrats have filed a lawsuit alleging a conspiracy by Russia to disrupt the 2016 presidential election and the then-candidate Donald Trump's campaign by means of a cyber attack. In a compensation Suit filed yesterday, the Democratic National Committee said Russian intelligence agency hacked the Democratic Party computer network and disseminated information obtained therethrough WikiLeaks.



  • Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors from G20, the Group of 20 economies, have agreed to aim for economic growth by promoting trade. In their two day meeting at Washington, the financial leaders agreed to work together to promote trade and global economic growth.



  • In Yemen, 20 people were killed in an air strike by a Saudi-led military coalition. According to Reuters, the attack hit a car transporting 20 passengers south of Taiz province yesterday.




  • Swedish DJ Avicii, one of the world's biggest dance music stars, has died in Oman at the age of 28.Avicii's club anthems include Wake Me Up, Levels, and recently, Lonely Together with Rita Ora.




  • The National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) Executive Board today decided to investigate allegations against former President Pervez Musharraf for holding assets beyond means.According to Dawn NewsTV, the NAB Executive Board will also investigate the retired general for wrongful use of power.




  • In Karnataka, five-time MLA from Congress N Y Gopalakrishna and another prominent Congress leader Chalawadi Narayanaswamy joined BJP today in the presence of party state President B S Yeddyurappa. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will file nomination this afternoon for the Assembly election to be held in Karnataka on 12th of next month.




  • Facebook(FB) page of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been ranked as the top ranked Facebook pages of Government bodies, ministries and political parties in India. Principal Secretary Information Avnish Awasthi told AIR correspondent that a letter was sent by Facebook office recently in this regard.




  • Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Bali Bhagat has ordered suspension of 23 officials including 4 doctors and 19 paramedics in Jammu and Rajouri districts taking a serious note of absenteeism. An official spokesman said the minister suspended the 23 officials following an inspection of an emergency hospital in Chowki Chowra, and Sub Division Hospital (SDH) in Sunderbani during a surprise visit.




  • The Rajasthan government has introduced a loan-waiver scheme for farmers under which crop loan of up to 50,000 rupees will be waived as per the budget announcement of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. A cooperative minister of the state Ajay Singh Kilak said, the scheme has been launched under which cooperative banks will hold camps for waiving loans up to 50,000 rupees of small and marginal farmers.




  • Gulmarg and higher reaches of Kashmir received fresh snowfall today, while the plains in the valley were lashed by rains. An official of the Meteorological Department said there are reports of snowfall in other areas in the higher reaches of the valley, including in Zojila Pass, near Amarnath Cave and Drass.




  • In Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, all the candidates who filed their nominations for the biennial Election of the Members of Legislative Council, have been declared elected unopposed. Yesterday was the last day of withdrawal of nominations in both the states.



  • The CBSE today informed the Delhi High Court that the decision not to conduct re-examination of the Class 10 mathematics paper, which was allegedly leaked, was taken after doing a trend analysis of science, maths and english papers. The CBSE said it was a considered decision and they cannot put lakhs of students in difficulty just for one student who wanted a re-test of maths.



  • As part of the ongoing countrywide Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan, a number of awareness programmes including LPG Panchayats on Ujjwala Yojana were organized at Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir today. At the LPG Panchayat held by Indian Oil Corporation at Auditorium Hall Kargil, speakers sensitized the Ujjwala beneficiaries about safety and utility of LPG and health benefits of using clean fuel.
