  • The Centre has announced a special package of 925 crore rupees for strengthening the power transmission and distribution system in Arunachal Pradesh. Union Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy, RK Singh made the announcement yesterday while chairing a review meeting of the power sector with senior officers of the state government in Itanagar.

  • In Maldives, Prosecutor General has reportedly termed the extension of emergency as unconstitutional, even s country’s Supreme Court ruled to temporarily maintain the State of Emergency. Opposition MP Ahmed Mahloof said the Prosecutor General has said that she believed the vote was unconstitutional and as a result, the state of emergency is also unconstitutional.




  • The Centre has informed the Supreme Court that it will start the supply of Euro-VI petrol and diesel in all the retail outlets of Delhi from 1st of April this year, considering the serious pollution levels in National Capital region and adjoining areas. Bharat Stage (BS)-VI emission standard was scheduled to come into force from April 1, 2020 across the country.

  • National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has decided not to stop any coronary stent manufacturer from withdrawing products from the Indian market. However, the authority said, companies will have to follow mandatory requirement of informing it six months prior to the intended date of discontinuation besides other formalities.

The Israeli leader told an American Jewish conference in Jerusalem, that the Israeli intelligence services thwarted the downing of an Australian plane.




  • In Nigeria, nearly 80 schoolgirls have been rescued by the Army after being kidnapped by suspected Boko Haram attackers, who raided their school in northeast Nigeria on Monday, a state official said. Commissioner of Education for Yobe state, Mohammed Alamin, said the exact number of girls will be confirmed today, when the school will be visited.




  • Union Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Uma Bharti said that the process for geo-tagging water sources in the Himalayas has been initiated and directions have been issued to identify springs in the region. She yesterday said the Centre has decided to give 27 crore rupees to Uttarakhand for the implementation of projects such as Swajal and those related to making villages open defecation free.




  • Flying officer Avani Chaturvedi has scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to fly a fighter aircraft solo. An Indian Air Force official said, she flew a MiG-21 bison in her first solo sortie from IAF's Jamnagar base in Gujarat on Monday.
