  • A low danger avalanche warning was issued today for some avalanche prone areas of Jammu and Kashmir.Chandigarh-based Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) issued the avalanche warning for the areas above 2500 metre altitude.The warning is valid for the next 24 hours starting at 5 pm today.

Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria said he would study the apex court order and talk to the law department and legal experts.



  • The Goa government has exercised the powers conferred upon it by sub section (1) of Section 3 of the Goa Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA), 1988 ( Goa Act 20 of 1989) for passenger/goods transport services this evening.The move is aimed at a strike called by taxi operators in the state tomorrow, which was termed illegal by the state transport minister Sudin Dhavalikar.

  • In view of rise in the prices of diesel and petrol, Centre today again appealed the states to reduce the VAT on the two products to give relief to the consumers.Replying to a media query in New Delhi, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, the hike is due to increase in international prices of Petrol and Diesel which is expected to be rationalized in few days.
