  • A low danger avalanche warning was issued today for some avalanche prone areas of Jammu and Kashmir.Chandigarh-based Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) issued the avalanche warning for the areas above 2500 metre altitude.The warning is valid for the next 24 hours starting at 5 pm today.




  • Swine flu (H1N1) is spreading at an alarming rate in Rajasthan as 28 new patients tested positive today.This month, in last 18 days a total of 393 people have been tested positive for Swine flu and 25 patients died.

  • In view of rise in the prices of diesel and petrol, Centre today again appealed the states to reduce the VAT on the two products to give relief to the consumers.Replying to a media query in New Delhi, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, the hike is due to increase in international prices of Petrol and Diesel which is expected to be rationalized in few days.
